The first decision determines how you measure. Inside mount sits within the window recess; outside mount covers the entire opening.
Inside Mount
Blinds sit flush within the window recess for a sleek, built-in look.
- Measure width at top, middle & bottom — use the narrowest
- Measure height at left, center & right — use the tallest
- Check recess depth: min 4 cm Zebra, 3 cm Roller
- We deduct the necessary clearance at the factory
Outside Mount
Blinds mount above the window frame, covering the entire opening.
- Measure total desired width including overlap (5–7 cm each side)
- Measure height from mount point to desired drop
- Add 10 cm above window for headrail clearance
- Provide exact measurements — no factory deductions applied
Use a steel tape measure (not fabric). Measure in millimeters for the most accurate result.
Prepare Your Tools
You need a steel tape measure, a pencil, and something to note your measurements. Avoid cloth or retractable plastic tapes — they stretch and bend, leading to errors of 3–5 mm.
Measure the Width
Inside Mount: Measure the clear opening at three points — top, middle, and bottom. Record the narrowest.
Outside Mount: Measure the total width you want the blind to cover, including desired overlap.
Measure the Height
Inside Mount: Measure from the top of the recess to the sill at three points — left, centre, right. Record the tallest.
Outside Mount: Measure from bracket position down to where you want the blind to end.
Check the Depth
For inside mount, verify your recess depth: Zebra blinds 4 cm, Roller blinds 3 cm, Pleated blinds 2.5 cm. If depth is insufficient, choose outside mount.
Note Any Obstacles
Check for window handles, tilt mechanisms, or protruding tiles. Leave at least 1 cm clearance from any obstacle.

Minimum Recess Depth
Zebra blinds need at least 4 cm recess depth for the dual-layer mechanism to operate freely.
Chain vs. Motor
Motorized zebra blinds need an extra 1.5 cm depth. Specify control side (left/right) when ordering.
Factory Deduction
For inside mount, we deduct 5 mm from each side (10 mm total). Provide exact recess measurements.
Roll Direction
Standard roll (fabric behind) or reverse roll (fabric in front). Reverse roll sits closer to the glass.
Bracket Allowance
Roller brackets add 15 mm on each side. Recess must be wide enough for brackets plus tube.
Drop Length
Measure the full drop even if you plan to stop the blind halfway. Fabric is cut to full length.
Perfect for Skylights
Pleated blinds are ideal for angled windows. Measure the glass area and note the tilt angle.
Slim Profile
Only 2.5 cm recess depth needed — the slimmest of all blind types.
Top-Down / Bottom-Up
If ordering this operation, measure the full height. The range covers the entire measurement.
Wide Windows
Ideal for windows wider than 180 cm. Measure width at the top only — vanes self-align.
Door Clearance
For patio doors, ensure vanes clear the door track by at least 1.5 cm.
Stack Direction
Specify: left stack, right stack, or split-draw (centre opening).
Avoid these errors and your blinds will fit perfectly the first time.
Measuring with a fabric tape
Fabric tapes stretch and sag, introducing 3–8 mm of error.
Using a steel tape measure
Steel tapes maintain rigidity. Lock and read at eye level.
Measuring only once at one point
Recesses are rarely square. A single measurement can be off by 5–15 mm.
Measuring at 3 points each way
Width at top/middle/bottom, height at left/centre/right.
Making your own deductions
Wrong allowance = blinds too small. This is the #1 fitting error.
